What is electrolysis?

Electrolysis is the only FDA-approved permanent hair removal treatment! By gently applying a little quantity of heat to the base of the hair follicle using a very thin, flexible probe, electrolysis permanently eliminates hairs.

Is electrolysis safe?

Electrolysis is the only established method of permanently removing hair (laser cannot legally advertise as permanent hair removal), and no other hair removal technique can make the same promise. Side effects are possible with any cosmetic or medical procedure, although they are exceedingly rare. Real Styling Solutions always employs high-quality sanitized disposable probes and adheres to the most recent infection control standards issued by the American Electrology Association (AEA), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) (CDC). Nios employs hospital-grade sanitation and sterilization methods, such as disposable probes and ultrasonic and dry heat treatment.

How did electrolysis come to be?

By gently applying a little quantity of heat to the base of the hair follicle using a very thin, flexible probe, electrolysis permanently eliminates hairs. This is accomplished by damaging the hair growth tissue and permanently removing the hair through the natural opening of the hair follicle.

Does it hurt?

Electrolysis causes a mild pricking sensation that some clients compare to or slightly above the sensation of a hair being plucked. This sensation is your assurance that the hair root is being destroyed. Electrolysis is more pleasant and effective than ever because of advances in technology, and most individuals handle the treatments well. If you’re concerned about how it will feel, we recommend performing a patch test at your free consultation to have a better understanding of how therapy will feel for you and how your skin will react to it before diving into treatment on your next appointment.

How long should my appointment be?

Electrolysis is based on the amount of hair, not the size of the treatment area. Because everyone’s hair is different, it’s hard to offer a precise estimate over the phone or online; we can, however, approximate the treatment time when we visit you in person, but bear in mind that these are estimates and we can’t tell you the actual amount of minutes.

Small regions such as the brows, lip, and chin may take 5-30 minutes, with an average of 15 minutes. If you have a lot of hair or are just getting started, you may need many 30-minute treatments to clean the area at first. This may progress to 15-minute sessions, and by the conclusion of your permanent hair removal journey, you may only need 5 minutes. If you simply have a few scant hairs, you might only need 5 minutes to begin with. Medium regions, such as the underarms, may take an hour of treatment, while bigger areas, such as the bikini or Brazilian, may require more than one hour. However, it varies greatly, so it’s better to let us have a look.

How much time does electrolysis take? When will I see long-term results?

The number of treatments required and the time required to obtain permanent results vary by customer and are determined by the length of the hair growth cycle, the volume of hair, genetics, hormonal influences, and some drugs. Because everyone is different, it’s hard to tell how long it will take for any one person to obtain long-term outcomes.

Having stated that, most patients are treated for 1 to 1.5 years (. If, on the other hand, you have some random hair developing on your face, you might be able to get away with only 2-3 treatments that last the remainder of your life. On the other hand, if you have persistent hormonal or age-related growth, you may require 1-2 touch-up treatments per year beyond the initial 1.5 year period.

Maintain the treatment schedule, never skip more than 6 weeks between treatments (even if you travel), and don’t pluck, wax, or thread between sessions to minimize the time to permanent results.

Why does electrolysis outperform laser?

Lasers use heat to kill hair follicles, but the laser must reach the root of the hair follicle, which is beneath the epidermis. However, the heat created by the laser strikes the whole surface of your skin (which is the reason you have increased chances of side effects such as burning). When the heat reaching the follicle is adequate, it can either delay or kill the follicle’s development. However, not enough heat is always delivered to the follicle, which is why the FDA only permits laser to be marketed as hair reduction rather than laser hair removal.

Because the laser goes through melanin, the pigment that causes hair and skin to appear dark, it works best on persons with light skin and dark hair. If the hair is light or the skin is dark, the laser cannot distinguish between melanin in the hair and melanin in the skin, and part of the laser is absorbed in the skin rather than the hair, reducing efficacy and occasionally causing skin damage. Laser scarcely works on very light hair, such as white, grey, blond, and red.

Electrolysis, on the other hand, does not rely on lasers or melanin to function and hence works equally well for all skin and hair colors, including tans. It is also incredibly exact and can be used to shape brows and other facial hair, as well as treat all other regions of the body.

What occurs following treatment?

The treated follicles may seem somewhat red after therapy. This normally goes gone after 3 days, however, it may take 1-2 weeks for some people. It is best to avoid the sun for 1-2 days after treatment or to apply a strong (SPF 50+) sunscreen. In addition, the treated area should be maintained clean and dry. Cleanse with a gentle cleanser and avoid touching the region because the skin is porous and dirt and germs from your fingers can easily go into the skin; for the same reason, we recommend not wearing makeup for at least 24 hours following treatment. Also, avoid any irritants (such as cleaning, exfoliation, bleaching, and so forth) until the region returns to normal.

Are your electrologists all certified?

Real Styling Solutions electrologists are at the top of their profession, with over 5 years of expertise. All Real Styling Solutions electrologists are CPE (Certified Professional Electrologist)-certified or in the process of becoming CPE-certified, and they get ongoing training.

Which Electrogist Should I Use?

Our electrologists are the best in the business (seriously!), and we encourage you to try working with more than one of them to discover who is the best fit for you. Electrolysis is both an art and a science, and you will likely discover there are 1-2 electrologists you click with, or maybe you’ll find that you like working with them all, giving you maximum flexibility when it comes to scheduling appointments.

Most of our electrologists treat all body areas, including Brazilian bikini area or buttocks, but some do not. Clients treating these areas should request to book with these technicians.

Do you provide guarantees?

How soon you achieve permanent results is determined by not taking extended intervals between appointments (never more than 6 weeks, even while traveling), not tweezing or waxing (ever), and some hormonal adjustments and medication – it works.

Who should get electrolysis?

Electrolysis is appropriate for everyone who has undesired hair, whether the objective is merely to minimize the time required to shave and shape hair or to remove hairs caused by an underlying medical issue.

Does electrolysis work on all hair types and skin tones (black/brown/blonde/red/grey/coarse/fine/fuzz)?

Electrolysis combines technology and human accuracy, and it works on all hair and skin hues. Unlike laser hair removal, which requires a color contrast between skin and hair, electrolysis works on dark skin/dark hair, light skin/light hair, and anything in between.

Can I be treated if I have a tan?

Yes. Electrolysis (as opposed to laser) is not affected by the color of your hair and skin and hence works equally well whether you are tanned. However, you should not treat burnt skin, thus we recommend avoiding direct sunlight immediately before treatment or using a thick sunscreen to the treated area.

Can electrolysis be used to treat all parts of the body?

Except for mucous membranes, electrolysis can be used to treat any part of the body. Inside the nose is one of the most commonly excluded locations. Electrolysis can be used to cure the ears, but not deep down the ear canal.

Does electrolysis work for hormone users?

One of the most prevalent negative effects of hormonal changes that occur naturally at various phases of development and as a result of hormone therapy is increased hair growth. Whatever the cause of these hormonal swings, electrolysis is an effective approach to permanently eradicate the resulting hair growth.

My skin is quite sensitive. Is electrolysis appropriate for me?

Although electrolysis is safe for all skin types, customers with sensitive skin may experience more post-treatment discomfort. As with any skin therapy, responses such as hyper- or hypo-pigmentation or keloids are conceivable but uncommon. Even if they exist, hyper and hypopigmentation almost typically disappear within a few months. If you’re worried about how your skin may respond, we recommend scheduling a consultation with a free patch test to get a better understanding of how your skin will react before treating a wider area.

I’ve had laser before. Is it still possible for me to get electrolysis?

Absolutely! Many of our clients come to us to enhance earlier laser treatments, since electrolysis may be an excellent approach to address any hairs that were not adequately treated by laser.

How long after a facial or peel can I come in for electrolysis?

Electrolysis should not be done on irritated or inflammatory skin. We recommend waiting at least three days after a facial and ten days after a peel – or more if the skin has not returned to normal.

Is electrolysis safe for retinoids users?

Though there have been no reports of treatment difficulties when taking retinoids, they do irritate the skin, thus we recommend stopping retinoid usage a week before electrolysis treatment.

Can children get electrocuted?

We do not treat children under the age of ten. Clients under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a legal guardian only for the first treatment and to complete an informed consent form. The minor may then come on their own.

Can diabetics receive electrolysis?

Yes, however persons with diabetes may heal more slowly. Before commencing treatment at Real Styling Solutions, we require that diabetic patients produce a letter from their doctor verifying their doctor’s approval for electrolysis.

Is electrolysis effective for PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome) patients?

Yes, it does. However, we urge that you see a doctor since hormonal imbalances might cause excessive hair growth.

Can electrolysis help with ingrown hairs and razor bumps?

Yes! Ingrown hairs caused by shaving, waxing, or plucking can be treated with electrolysis, and the best thing is that after your hair is completely eliminated, you’ll no longer have to worry with those bothersome lumps.

Can electrolysis be used to remove mole hairs? What are skin tags?

Electrolysis can be used to safely remove hair from moles. Real Styling Solutions, on the other hand, provides a completely different service: mole removal.

Is electrolysis safe to use when pregnant?

Yes. During pregnancy, hormonal changes may cause an increase in hair growth. Some of this hair may fall off after delivery. Electrolysis might assist in restoring the hair-free, smooth appearance. Treatment of the breasts, however, should be avoided in the final few weeks of pregnancy. Although there have been no reports of ill effects from electrolysis during pregnancy, we do need customers to provide a letter from their doctor before beginning electrolysis treatment.
